I’m delighted to appeart at Village Books in conversation with Lyanda Lynn Haupt, as part of the North Cascades Institute Nature of Writing Series.
Lyanda is a superb and poetic nature and bird author. (Her 2026 book is Among the Birds: Field Notes from Cascadia). All her books “explore the intersection of humans and the wild earth.” After reading Rooted: Life at the Crossroads of Science, Nature, and Spirit, I found myself taking off my shoes in the outdoors–remembering how as a child I was barefoot as much as possble in summers. I feel kinship with Lyanda and love what she wrote about Feathered Forest:
