Aloft with birds in ancient trees– on tv

Thanks to Brooke Snavely of “The Great Outdoors” of Central Oregon Daily for his brief feature TV piece about my new book. Watch here ( 3 1/2 minutes).

The piece aired on October 21st and will again this weekend on multiple channels. I so appreciate Brooke and also what he wrote to me about the piece airing:
“I’ve already heard several comments about how nice it is to begin to shift the news focus away from tragedy. Your book is a nice nudge in that direction.”

The filming was in my secret location and yes that IS the “Grandmother Tree” in Feathered Forest. I appreciate Brooke calling attention to my three upcoming events in the Bend area on October 22 and 29 and on November 12, and for ending with my call for protecting our last wild trees and birds that face such threats today from logging.

To add to the piece since it is so brief and not all could be explaine– Nina Ferrari is the amazing tall tree climber (rather than me as the one-time climber). That is Nina in the orange helmet. I’d like to call attention as well to the significance of the H. J. Andrews Experimental Forest location (including the amazing drone footage showing Nina midway up and Mark Schulze at the top by David Herasimtschuk). And to my Advocacy page on my website where you can support and donate to assure a future for the Andrews Forest that may be facing a huge funding loss.

Thanks Central Oregon Daily!

Hope to see Bend and Sisters area folks at one or more of these events–I promise each one will be different. And tonight, I’m giving a reading that focuses on what we might learn from birds and forests and lessons of cooperation, reciprocity, kinship, and community that might help us now as we struggle in the aftermath of the horror of the Silver Rail Elementary School shooting just one week ago.
